Sacramento Pizza Review of Luigis Pizza Parlor

July 4, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Luigi’s Pizza Parlor is an original pizza joint located at 3800 Stockton Blvd in Sacramento, CA that is great for Lunch, Dinner, or Late Night. They have been in business since 1953 and really know how to serve an original pizza. They are open Monday through Thursday from 3:00pm to midnight, Friday to Saturday from 3:00pm to 2:00am, and Sunday from 3:00pm to 12:00am. After 65 reviews, Luigi’s Pizza Parlor scored 4 out of 5 stars overall. It’s a great place for groups and kids, but they do not take reservations and do not deliver. You can call 916-456-0641 to order take out, or ask how busy they are.
At 1:00am on a Saturday evening I parked on the street and walked up to Luigi’s Pizza Parlor. There was no outdoor seating, but there was wheelchair access and lots of street parking. There were no waiters or reservations available, but there was take out. They also served beer and wine. The prices were good from $8.45 for a small pizza to $18.45 for a large multiple topping pizza. Thick crust was available at no extra charge and I highly recommend Luigi’s Special.
Here are a couple reviews from Sacramento natives:
“If this place delivered, I would never eat pizza from anywhere else. I used to live across the street and ate here A LOT (my only other choice was Churchs Chicken). Everything is homemade including the lasagna and ranch dressing. We ordered a vegetarian pizza for a work function recently and I remembered how much I loved their sauce. The owner is a very friendly guy and all the employees seem to have a lot of fun. This would be a good place to watch a game because the television is HUGE and they serve pitchers of beer.” -Emily L.
“This -in my opinion is the best pizza in town. I used to live down the street and we would pick up pizza all the time they are all good – sort of a NY style but not quite – with crispy crust and plenty of astringents. The two pies I HIGHLY recommend are the all meat (with home made Italian sausage) or my favorite the chicken and garlic on white sauce (garlic)” – Kevin C.
“I don’t care if they don’t deliver, I happily drive from midtown (FAR I know) a couple times a month for their pies. The plain cheese alone is enough to send a person into fits of joy, but add a healthy dose (read: TON) of their homemade ranch and it’s over. Kill me right there. Well, after Ifinish my pizza..” -PJ G.
“I’m really picky about my pizza. I either love it or end up wanting to gag after I’m done eating. Usually, an excess of oil or cheese leads to the later. And usually, I see that type of pizza at hole in the wall looking places like Luigi’s. So, I was pleasantly surprised when our pizza had lots of veggies, a normal, non-excessive amount of cheese, and not-too-greasy sausage. We ordered our pizza thick crust, and it was pleasantly fluffy in the middle, but nice and crispy on the outside. One small pizza was plenty for two people (with leftovers).” – Katie T.
So there you have it. I think Katie describes it best as one of those “hole in the wall” pizza joints that really delivers quality pizza. Definitely check out this original Sacramento pizza at Luigi’s Pizza Parlor.
